Working Principle

The ABLNO-122.880MHZ-T2 is an electronic oscillator circuit that adopts quartz crystal as its frequency control device. When an AC voltage of certain frequency is applied to the quartz crystal around the center frequency, the crystal will vibrate and thus output a sinusoidal wave of the same frequency. In this way, quartz crystal oscillators can convert electric energy into mechanical energy and vice versa to generate electrical energy.

The typical crystal oscillation circuit is composed of two parts: an oscillator circuit and a quartz crystal. The oscillator circuit consists of an amplifier, a collector resistor, a timer, and a feedback loop. All the components are connected together to form a negative feedback loop. The oscillator blocks the higher frequency sideband frequencies and passes its center frequency. The quartz crystal is treated as a tunable capacitor, and its capacitance changes with voltage.

In order to make the oscillator work stably, the energy stored in the oscillation loop must be larger than the energy dissipated in the loop. The energy stored in the loop can be expressed as: energy=1/2 \u03c0\u00b2 *LC, where \u03c0 is a constant, L and C are respectively the inductance and capacitance of the oscillator loop. The energy dissipated in the oscillator loop is determined by the damping resistor R. As the frequency increases, the energy stored in the loop increases exponentially, while the energy dissipated in the loop increases linearly. When the energy stored in the oscillator loop is equal to the energy dissipated in the loop, the oscillation frequency of the oscillator will be constant and the oscillator will be in a stable operating state. On this basis, the oscillator’s frequency can be adjusted by changing the capacitance of the quartz crystal.
