The AC4490-200A RF Transceiver Module is a high-performance integrated circuit used in wireless communications systems for both data and broadcast applications. It is designed to replace traditional communication transceiver components, reducing cost and complexity while improving reliability and performance. The AC4490-200A combines power amplifier and mixer stages, modulation and demodulation functions, and a transmit/receive switch into a single module.
The module’s primary application field is in wireless LANs and cellular networks, but its channels and other functions also make it useful for a wide variety of other applications. The AC4490-200A supports both 2.4 and 5GHz wireless networks, providing a dynamic range of up to 38 dBm and a nominal output power of 27 dBm. The module also supports transmission rates up to 54 Mbps.
It utilizes four major subsystems, the RF interface, the power supply, the IQ (in-phase and quadrature) modulator, and the analog-to-digital/digital-to-analog converter. The RF interface acts as a link between the communication base station and the transceiver, providing output power and isolation as well as gain control. The power supply is used to power the receiver and transmitter and to provide additional levels of temperature protection. The IQ modulator performs modulation and demodulation, while the analog-to-digital/digital-to-analog converter performs signal processing functions.
The AC4490-200A supports the following operating modes and features: continuous mode (streaming data reception and transmission), standby mode (low power consumption and support for extremely short wake-up periods), receive mode, transmit mode, device-initiated directional control, and high power output mode. In continuous mode, up to five megabits per second of data can be streamed from the base station to the transceiver via the RF interface. In standby mode, up to 30 millisecond wake-up periods can be declared when the transceiver needs to be set to receive data. In receive mode, incoming data is filtered, converted, amplified, and then sent to the base station. In transmit mode, data is converted into an RF signal, amplified, and then transmitted.
The AC4490-200A also has a dual-port VCC interface that allows connection to ground and to the power supply. This allows the transceiver to interface directly with existing ground planes and power supplies, eliminating the need for additional cabling and power sources. The interface is designed to minimize EMI (electromagnetic interference) and RFI (radio frequency interference) on the power lines while still providing dependable operation.
The AC4490-200A is an ideal solution for a wide range of wireless communication applications, providing power, performance, and reliability. It combines a high level of performance with low cost and complexity, making it an attractive and attractive solution for a variety of applications.
