Optoisolators - Logic Output
ACPL-5601L-300 is an important component in optoisolators products, especially in logic output devices. It is a high performing CMOS optocoupler with Darlington transistor output. The ACPL-5601L-300 provides an electrical isolation of > 4 kVrms for 1 minute, and features with a low input current of 0.5 mA and an input-output isolation up to 4 kVrms. These features make ACPL-5601L-300 ideal for use in a wide range of industrial, medical and automotive applications.
Application Field
The ACPL-5601L-300 is designed for applications which require reliable electrical isolation between a high voltage AC or DC power and/or analog signal source, and a low voltage logic or digital signal. The Galvanic isolation of the device can withstand a high transient voltage of up to 4 kVrms. It is suitable for a wide range of power applications such as power supplies, motor control, lighting, HVAC and industrial control, aerospace and automotive electronics.
Working Principle
The ACPL-5601L-300 utilizes an optical isolation technology, which relies on the proven properties of LEDs and photo-detectors to provide electrical isolation of up to 4 kVrms. The device consists of two sections – an opto-transmitter and an opto-receiver. In the transmitter section, an LED emits optical pulses when the input signal is switched. These optical pulses are converted to an AC signal by a photocoupler in the receiving section. The AC voltage generated is then amplified by a Darlington pair with an integrated resistor for the final output.
The ACPL-5601L-300 is capable of providing high speed switching of up to 5 Mbps and it can easily drive heavily loaded buses. Commonly, it is used for driving high speed logic devices such as Microprocessors, FPGAs and DSPs. It is also used in battery operated applications where low power dissipation is needed, such as medical, automotive and security systems.
The ACPL-5601L-300 is well suited for industrial heavy duty applications as it can withstand surge pulse up to 4 kVrms.
