AD5370BCPZ is a low-cost, easy-to-use, 16-bit, digital-to-analog converter (DAC). It is designed to provide a full-scale range of 8 mV to 4 V with a 16-bit resolution. This makes it ideal for a wide range of data acquisition applications, including low-noise signal conditioning, precision amplitude modulation, and digital-to-analog (D/A) conversion. AD5370BCPZ can operate from a single 3 V to 3.6 V or dual ±5 V supply.
The DAC uses a serial input interface that allows the user to control up to four independent 4-bit DACs. The AD5370BCPZ is compatible with a wide range of microcontrollers, such as Dallas Semiconductor’s MSP430, PICmicro, and Atmel’s ATmega. It also features an SPI interface allowing for easy connection to a variety of microcontroller-based systems.

The AD5370BCPZ features a simple yet flexible architecture. The main components of the device are four independent voltage-controlled gates, each containing a low-power differential amplifier and a programmable analog switch. Each of the gates is controlled by a set of four control bits, allowing the user to adjust the output voltage level from 8 mV to 4 V with 16-bit resolution. The output voltage level is also adjustable using an external reference voltage.
The output of the DAC is regulated by an internal charge pump circuit. The charge pump ensures that only the desired voltage is output, thus limiting the effects of thermal drift, noise, and leakage currents. The charge pump also provides an additional level of protection by ensuring that no more than 4 V is output from the DAC.
