Data Acquisition - Digital to Analog Converters (DAC) are devices that convert digital information into an analog output. In the case of the AD5532ABCZ-5, it is a precision 16-bit, dual-channel, unbuffered voltage output D/A converter with a voltage reference. By combining the precision and linearity of a voltage ladder circuit with a low-power Delta-Sigma DAC IC in an open loop architecture, the AD5532ABCZ-5 offers enhanced performance for many applications. This high-accuracy, low-power DAC is capable of providing a precise 16-bit voltage output with excellent linearity.
The AD5532ABCZ-5 also features a fast settling time, as low as 5μs and as high as 16 ms, depending on the conversion speed set by the user. It can operate from ±2.7V supplies, allowing it to be used in wide variety of systems. In addition, it features a power-down mode for increased power efficiency.
At the core of the AD5532ABCZ-5 is an advanced Sigma-Delta (SD) modulator. This is an iterative modulator that utilizes feedback, delta-sigma modulation and digital filtration. With SD modulation, the digital input is converted to an analog signal in a series of steps, starting with an analog-to-digital conversion. The modulator then samples the analog signal and converts it to a binary form, based on a predetermined threshold. The digital signal is then processed through the Delta-Sigma modulator, which converts the signal to a Sigma-Delta form output. Finally, the digital signal is filtered through a digital filter to reduce any noise or distortion in the signal.
The AD5532ABCZ-5 is an excellent choice for applications requiring a low-power, fast settling and high-accuracy DAC.
