The AD5667RBCPZ-REEL7 is a 16-bit, low-power and voltage output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) in 10-lead MSOP and 10-lead narrow body SOIC packages. It has a 1.8 V to 5.25 V power supply range, 1 LSB internal Reference (Requires REFCAP capacitor) and rail-to-rail output operation.
The AD5667RBCPZ-REEL7 is ideal for applications such as digital control of DACs, audio systems, ad-hoc sensing and control, automatic test equipment (ATE), and any other digital-controlled application requiring DACs with high reliability, precision, low noise and low power consumption.
The AD5667RBCPZ-REEL7 offers excellent performance over temperature and features shutdown mode where quiescent current is reduced to less than 500 nA. It also features power-on reset which ensures that the DAC output returns to the midscale at power-up (after the Capacitor is charged). In addition, the AD5667RBCPZ-REEL7 has an integrated logic on-board that supports a wide range of microprocessors with a bidirectional serial interface (SPI or 2-wire).

Working Principle
The AD5667RBCPZ-REEL7 is a monolithic dual channel digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that includes a track and hold register and an on-chip 1 LSB internal reference. Its operation is based on a charge redistribution DAC architecture which allows Rail-to-Rail output swing with a nominal output swing of 1.75 V with a 1.8 V supply. The device typically consumes 2.5 mA of quiescent current and is provided with a shutdown mode where the quiescent current is reduced to less than 500 nA. The device also features a power-on reset circuit that ensures that the DAC output returns to midscale at power-up after the on-chip reference capacitor is charged.
The AD5667RBCPZ-REEL7 has a double-buffered input register. A double-buffered serial input port (SPI or 2-wire) for accessing the input register provides a bidirectional communication interface for microprocessors. The REFCAP capacitor value depends on the desired output voltage swing. The capacitor typically ranges from 0.1 μF to 2.2 μF, depending on the internal resistor tolerances. The full-scale output range of the DAC can be adjusted with this reference voltage.
The AD5667RBCPZ-REEL7 also provides fault detection and current output states. The device has an open-circuit output fault protection circuit that disables the DAC outputs during an output short-circuit fault.
