Data Acquisition - Digital to Analog Converters (DAC)The AD7302BRU is a 4-channel, 8-bit Digital-To-Analog converter (DAC). It is designed for use in industrial and consumer applications such as communications, instrumentation, process control, and consumer products. The AD7302BRU is especially suited for applications that require high performance at low power, such as in portable and handheld devices.The AD7302BRU has two data input registers, one being an 8-bit serial input and the other being a 16-bit parallel input. The 8-bit serial input allows the user to send data to the DAC in a continuous serial stream. This may be done by using an SPI interface with an external microcontroller. The 16-bit parallel interface allows the user to send parallel data to the DAC in one transfer.The AD7302BRU outputs two voltages, a reference voltage and a voltage that is proportional to the digital data, with 1 LSB step size. The reference voltage can be adjusted externally for maximum flexibility. The reference voltage, as well as the output voltage range, can be adjusted from 0V to 5V. The output can also be configured as a buffered current output with a 1mA/LSB step size.The AD7302BRU operates from a single supply of 2.7V to 5.5V and consumes a very low current of 6mA typically. It is also allowed to be powered down to save power consumption. The AD7302BRU also operates over a wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. It allows the user to adjust the reference voltage and output voltage range with external resistors. The device also features a Power-On Reset (POR) circuit and Zero-Gap operation that eliminates discontinuities when transferring data between channels.The AD7302BRU provides fast settling times with a settling time of 100ns typically.
