Data Acquisition - Analog to Digital Converters (ADC) are used for a variety of purposes. Commonly known as analog to digital converters, these devices are used to convert real-world sources of analog data, such as temperature, pressure, sound, and light, into digital signals. The AD7714ARZ-5 is a low-power 14-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC). It is designed for low-power applications and features a programmable reference, two on-chip reference buffers for higher accuracy, four configurable digital filters, 12-bit voltage output conversion, and an internal zero scale calibration.
The AD7714ARZ-5 is optimized for low-power extensions such as cyclic mode, power down, auto-zero and offset calibration, and auto-sleep/wake-up functions. The 14-bit SAR consists of a single conversion cycle with a programmable reference and two on-chip reference buffers. The SAR architecture is capable of achieving high-resolution data conversion and fast conversion times, while consuming low power. The internal calibration engine performs an offset and gain calibration to minimize resolution errors associated with the VGA and the SAR. The on-chip digital filters provide significant advantages by allowing the device to filter out noise in the conversion process and reduce data rate without the need for an external anti-aliasing filter.
The AD7714ARZ-5 can operate in single-ended or differential configurations with switches to choose the desired channel configuration. The device is rated for a maximum operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and offers a wide range of adjustment ranges, from 0V to 3V in POS or NEG modes, and from 0V to ± 2V in bipolar mode.
