Temperature sensors are an essential component used to monitor and control different environmental parameters in various industries. They can be broadly classified into three main categories: analog, digital and mixed-tech. The AD7817BRZ-REEL is a temperature sensor belonging to the analog and digital output category. Additionally, the AD7817BRZ-REEL uses an on-chip temperature calibration circuit to provide an exceptionally accurate temperature measurement, with an offset accuracy of up to 0.2°C. In its operation, the AD7817BRZ-REEL utilizes two principal temperature sensing principles to measure temperatures accurately: The voltage proportional to a temperature generated by a thermistor and the voltage across a ‘zero’ temperature coefficient solid-state transistor. Internally, a temperature-sensitive resistor and digital signal processing circuitry are used in tandem to achieve the accuracy and speed the AD7817BRZ-REEL was designed for.On top of providing accurate temperature measurements, the AD7817BRZ-REEL enables digital-level temperature detection. When certain temperature values are reached, the AD7817BRZ-REEL can issue an interrupt, alerting the user to the attained temperature.
