1. Describe
The TMP236A4DBZT device is a family of precision CMOS integrated circuit linear analog temperature sensors with an output voltage proportional to temperature that engineers can use in a variety of analog temperature sensing applications. These temperature sensors are more accurate than similar pin-compatible devices on the market, with a typical accuracy of 0°C to +70°C, ±0.5°C. This series has higher accuracy and is designed for many analog temperature sensing applications. The TMP235 device is suitable for the entire –40°C to +150°C temperature range and 2.3V to 5.5V. The higher gain TMP236 sensor provides a positive slope output of 19.5 mV/°C from –10°C to +125°C with a supply range of 3.1 V to 5.5 V. 9-µA typical quiescent current and 800-µs typical power-up time enable an efficient power cycling architecture to minimize power consumption in battery-powered devices. The Class AB output driver provides a powerful 500µA maximum output to drive capacitive loads up to 1000 pF and is designed for direct connection to the sample and hold input of an analog-to-digital converter. The TMP23x analog output temperature sensors offer excellent accuracy and a powerful linear output driver and are a cost-effective alternative to passive thermistors.
2. Feature
1. Cost-effective alternative to thermistors
2. High accuracy over a wide temperature range:

– ±2.5°C (max): –10°C to +125°C (TMP236)
3. Available in two accuracy classes:
– Class A2: ±0.5°C (typ.)
– Class A4: ±1°C (typ.)
4. Positive slope sensor gain, offset (typical):
– 10 mV/°C, 500 mV at 0°C (TMP235)
– 19.5 mV/°C, 400 mV at 0°C (TMP236)
5. Wide operating supply voltage range:
– 2.3 V to 5.5 V (TMP235)
– 3.1 V to 5.5 V (TMP236)
6. Short circuit protected output
7. Low power consumption: 9 μA (typ)
8. Powerful output for driving loads up to 1000 pF
9. Available package options:
– 5-pin SC70 (DCK) surface mount
– 3-pin SOT-23 (DBZ) surface mount
– Dimensions compatible with industry standard LMT8x-Q1 and LM20 temperature sensors
3. Application
1. Grid infrastructure
2. Radio and telecommunications infrastructure
3. Automotive infotainment
4. Factory Automation and Control
5. Test and Measurement
4. Pin configuration
5. Pin Description
6. Function description
As shown in Figure 3, the TMP23x devices are linear. However, a small VOUT gain offset exists at Temperatures above 100°C. When small changes are expected, piecewise linear functions provide the best Accuracy and used in equipment accuracy specifications. Typical output voltage of Table 3 and Table 4 list the TMP23x devices over the entire operating temperature range. ideal linear Columns represent ideal linear VOUT output response versus temperature, while piecewise linear Columns represent small voltage excursions at high temperature.
7. Application Information
The features of the TMP235 make this family of devices designed for a variety of general-purpose temperature sensing application. TMP235 and TMP236 devices operate from supplies as low as 2.3V and 3.1V and draw 9µA power consumption, respectively. Therefore, this series is designed for battery powered applications. This The TMP23x family is available in two surface mount technology packages (SC70 and SOT-23).
