AD783JQ’s operating principle is based on the concept of a fully differential input stage with a common-mode feedback (CMFB) circuit. The differential input stage is made up of an input pair of FETs that are connected in series, with the gates of the FETs being connected to the same control voltage. The common-mode feedback circuit is used to control the DC voltage at the FET’s gates such that the FETs don’t saturate, thereby preventing distortion.
This differential input stage is combined with a low-noise gain-setting resistor network that is used to establish the DC differential gain. Additionally, the gain-setting resistor network is also combined with a feedback capacitor to maintain the capacitive stability, allowing signals to be amplified or attenuated at variable gain settings. A rail-to-rail output stage is then employed to provide the globally advantageous buffering capability, making the AD783JQ a precision instrumentation amplifier.
