The AD7862BRZ-10REEL is a low voltage, 8-bit resolution, sampling A/D converter with an internal 10 ksps track and hold amplifier. Their applications range from medical, industrial, automotive and communications systems, to instrumentation.

The AD7862BRZ-10REEL is an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that is capable of sampling inputs of up to 10 ksps. It includes a track and hold amplifier, sample and hold comparator, and a precision reference. In order to perform A/D conversions, the device is clocked with a master clock, which is typically connected to a 10 MHz oscillator. Depending on the frequency and accuracy of this clock signal, the A/D conversion rate can be adjusted.

The device utilizes an emittance-coupled differential track and hold amplifier in order to accurately sample, hold and convert the analog input signal into a digital count. This track and hold circuit works by charging and discharging two capacitors in response to the amplified input signal. The two capacitors form the track and hold, and have values that are matched with respect to each other, allowing the circuit to precisely track and hold the input signal.

When an input is applied, the track and hold amplifiers first sample the input signal, after which the sampled voltage is subsequently compared with a reference voltage of known value. By comparing the two voltages, the analog-to-digital converter produces a binary number, which is a representation of the analog input. The result of this comparison is then loaded into a register, and is available at the device’s output.

The AD7862BRZ-10REEL also includes an internal reference and a highly accurate track and hold amplifier. The 2.0V/± 0.75mV internal reference voltage allows for accurate conversion of analog signals. When the reference voltage is applied to one side of the track and hold circuit, the reference voltage causes the op-amp to charge or discharge the capacitor according to the input signal’s level.
