Data acquisition is an important branch of engineering, and analog to digital converters (ADC) are commonly used to transform analog data signals into digital ones that can undergo further processing. The AD7865ASZ-3 features a single-slope SAR architecture that is used to convert analog signals into digital signals in order to minimize errors due to offsets and gain mismatches. The device\'s internal sample-and-hold capacitor allows it to switch channels quickly and accurately.The AD7865ASZ-3 uses a serial I/O interface consisting of a serial clock (SCK) line, data (DIN) line and serial output (SDO) line. The clock line is used to select the appropriate channel and the data line is used to supply the analog input signal. The serial output line is used to transfer the 12-bit converted data to the microcontroller.The device also uses three pins for power input lines. The first is Vcc which provides power for the device and the other two are AGND and DGND, which are used to provide a reference voltage for single-ended and differential signals, respectively.The AD7865ASZ-3 supports two modes of operation; single-ended and differential. It also has low power consumption of only 2.3 mW (typical) at 5V and 13 mW (typical) at 3V.
