AD7865YSZ-3 is a general purpose dual analog to digital converter (ADC). An analog to digital converter (ADC) is a device that converts continuous analog signals into discrete digital signals. The AD7865YSZ-3 is an integrated circuit which can be used for converting analog signals into 8-bit digital signals.The AD7865YSZ-3 is a complete dual channel, 8-bit, successive approximation, analog-to-digital converter. This ADC operates from a single +3V to +5.5V power supply with a conversion rate of up to 150 kilosamples per second. The AD7865YSZ-3 has a sample/hold (S/H) and a low power track/hold (T/H) feature that simultaneously samples both channels and tracks the input signals. The S/H acquires data from external sources, while the T/H allows the system to continually sample the input channels.The AD7865YSZ-3 is ideal for low power applications, such as portable medical equipment, where precision, small size and low power consumption are important design criteria. In addition, it has a full power mode which can be used for high speed data acquisition applications. The device also provides a hardware-initiated power-down and a low power automatic power-down feature.The AD7865YSZ-3 consists of two 8-bit analog-to-digital converters and one 10-bit serial port interface. It also incorporates internal sample-and-hold circuitry to simultaneously sample both channels. The ADC provides an 8-bit resolution and has a signal to noise ratio of 81dB.The AD7865YSZ-3 has an input range of ±2V, which can be programmed between ±2V and ±256mV. This device also has a zero-crossing detection feature that can inform the application of the signal’s zero-crossing point.The AD7865YSZ-3 also supports a serial port interface for reading the digital conversion results. The serial port interface supports a range of data rates from 9600 bps to 250k bps. The interface can read the conversion results from either channel or both channels simultaneously.The AD7865YSZ-3 is designed for applications that require analog to digital conversion of voltages. Such applications include data acquisition systems, thermocouple measurements, image data conversion and video digitizing.
