The AD8044AR-EBZ is an evaluation board released by Analog Devices, designed for use with the company’s popular operational amplifier, the AD8044AR. Operating as a current feedback operational amplifier, the AD8044AR-EBZ operates as very low power, with low distortion and high bandwidth. It is ideal for use in low-noise, low-power applications, such as audio equipment, medical and automotive systems, and power supplies.
The AD8044AR-EBZ evaluation board contains two identical sections, one for the operational amplifier circuit, and the other for the compensation circuitry. This set-up is designed to help reduce PCB area, as well as to reduce noise and capture transient signals. The board also contains a number of test points to allow for more accurate measurements and testing of the operational amplifier.
At the heart of the AD8044AR-EBZ is the very low-noise, low-power, high-speed AD8044AR operational amplifier, which is the flagship of the analog section of Analog Devices’ amplifier portfolio. Operating from a single supply voltage, the AD8044AR can offer very low distortion, low noise, and fast settling times on all types of signal ranges. In addition, this amplifier is designed to eliminate crosstalk and any type of circuit interference. With a wide bandwidth of up to 10MHz, the AD8044AR is capable of amplifying signals with low amounts of noise, and offering very good accuracy.
The AD8044AR-EBZ comes with two types of compensation circuitries: high-gain compensation and low-gain compensation. The high-gain compensation is designed to improve signal linearity and the performance for high-speed and low-voltage signals. The low-gain compensation offers the highest stability, with the lowest output impedance possible. Additionally, the AD8044AR-EBZ is designed to provide the most accurate feedback ratio, allowing the amplifier to operate at its best.
The AD8044AR-EBZ can be powered by either a single-supply voltage of 4.5-36V or dual-supply voltage of ±2.5-18V. This operational amplifier is designed to work with very low currents, ranging from 10mA to 30mA of peak output current. It has an input voltage of 12V, and a slew rate of 10V/μs. It features a low-bias current of µA, and low-power operation, consuming up to μW of power on standby. The AD8044AR-EBZ can also be used with other Analog Devices amplifiers, such as the AD8045AR and AD8046AR.
Another feature of the AD8044AR-EBZ is its built-in protection circuit, designed to protect the amplifier from overvoltage, overcurrent, and thermal events. It also includes a soft-start circuit, which protects the amplifier during initial turn-on.
