Features of AD8397ARDZ
AD8397ARDZ features an extremely low power consumption of only 2mA at 5V and operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C that makes it suitable for space-constrained applications. It has Load and Common Mode rejection of over 70dB at 10kHz and low offset voltage drift of only 2uV per °C. It has very high input impedance of 1TΩ and low output impedance down to 4Ω. The device has a wide supply voltage range of 1.8V to 5V. It also features low noise of only 0.8nV/√Hz at 10kHz.
Applications
AD8397ARDZ is ideally suited for signal conditioning, instrumentation, and transducer signal conditioning applications. It is optimized for precision amplification of low-voltage signals from thermocouples, RTDs and other low-output sensors. It can be used in Analog to Digital Converters (ADCs), Digital to Analog Converters (DACs), clocks, and data buffers. Additionally it can be used in portable medical equipment, automotive instrumentation, industrial process control and monitoring systems, automation systems, and smart gas and water meters. It is also suitable for battery driven applications, where low power and high accuracy must both be taken into account.
Working Principle
AD8397ARDZ uses the Widlar current source topology, a common amplifier circuit topology used in linear amplifiers and instrumentation amplifiers. It has two inputs, non-inverting and inverting, and the amplifier output voltage is a differential voltage which is the difference between the input voltages. The Widlar current source is implemented to drastically reduce the orientation dependence of the amplifier\'s output that is linked to offset voltage, bias current, and amplifier gain. This design creates high common-mode rejection ratio even when the input voltage is at a very low level. The device features a wide bandwidth of up to 40kHz, making it suitable for high speed measurement applications.
AD8397ARDZ is perfect for applications that require amplification of low voltage signals due to its low power consumption, high accuracy and great signal to noise ratio. With the Widlar current source and its wide bandwidth, the device can be used in a variety of linear systems including instrumentation amplifiers, OP amps, and buffer amplifiers.
