AD8400AR1 Application Field and Working PrincipleThe AD8400AR1 is an integrated circuit used for the data acquisition of digital potentiometers. It is comprised of a single chip with a 4th order variable multi-turn digital potentiometer. It not only simplifies mechanical design while extending its range of movement, but also negates the need for calibrating certain values. This is due to its ability to remember the commands set in it and perform automatic tracking of this setpoint.The purpose of the ADC8400AR1 chip is to provide a programmable digital potentiometer with a much higher resolution than normally found in mechanical potentiometers. This makes it ideal for applications that require precise settings to be set and maintained, such as those found in applications involving audio, video, and display systems. The digital potentiometer on the chip offers the convenience of a single device which can be adjusted remotely, making it particularly useful for applications that require non-contact adjustment of settings. The ADC8400AR1 chip incorporates a 4th order, variable multi-turn digital potentiometer, with a range of 0 to 10V. When connected to a signal or ground, the chip can sense and interpret the signal, and then convert it into a digital code for use in the application. This process is done through the use of a potentiometer and a coding scale, which are connected to the chip.
