The AD8556-EVALZ evaluation board is one of the many evaluation boards available for the analog front end of a design or system. Evaluation boards in general are used to make sure that a design is ready to be implemented in a production system. The AD8556-EVALZ board in particular is designed to evaluate the performance of Analog Devices\' AD8556 Video Amplifier and Performance Adjustment Amplifier devices. It provides a platform for testing and characterization of the AD8556-EVALZ Video Amplifer and AD8556-EVALZ Performance Adjustment Amplifier devices over a wide range of frequencies and settings.
The AD8556-EVALZ evaluation board is based on the AD8556 Video Amplifier and Performance Adjustment Amplifier devices which are designed to drive the signal pathways of professionals grade video equipment. The AD8556 devices are single and dual channel, low noise video amplifiers that can be used to amplify analog video, RGB component, S-video, and composite video signals. They also offer very low distortion, wide bandwidth, FET output, as well as temperature and load stability. In addition, the AD8556 offers temperature range from -5oC to +75oC, and its output provides a constant linear transfer function that is temperature compensated.
The characteristics of the AD8556-EVALZ evaluation board are rooted in the performance specifications of the devices which it implements. The evaluation board provides up to +/- 10V operating supply voltage and +/- 10V output signal voltage levels, while its high impedance input and output signal levels are up to +/- 10V. Its power supply noise is low to ensure a low noise output signal. The AD8556-EVALZ evaluation board also features a low distortion circuit, wide bandwidth, and excellent common-mode and differential-mode input/output performance.
The way the AD8556-EVALZ works is by providing the user with a platform with which to evaluate how the performance of the AD8556 Video Amplifier and Performance Adjustment Amplifier devices perform in a variety of real-world scenarios. A user, with the assistance of a reference design to guide them, can then use the board to control the amount of amplification, the operating voltage, and the output levels of both the single and dual channel versions of the devices.
