AD8801AR Application Field and Working Principle
Data Acquisition - Digital to Analog Converters (DAC) can be used to convert digital signals into analog signals. The AD8801AR is a precision digital-to-analog converter (DAC) produced by Analog Devices which offers outstanding dynamic performance and easy programming through its on-board EEPROM memory.The AD8801AR is a single-channel DAC with a resolution of 12 bits, an operating voltage range of 7V to 30V, and a power supply operating range of 5V to 12V. It has an output voltage range of 0.005V to 9.995V, with a minimum step size of 0.8mV. It also features internal EEPROM memory as well as programmable resistors, allowing for adjustable amplitude and offset programming.The AD8801AR is usually used for applications including sensor data acquisition, motor control, industrial process control, motion control, and audio-visual systems. It is designed to interface directly with most digital circuits and systems, including microcontrollers, DSPs, FPGAs, and central processor systems.The AD8801AR operates using the delta-sigma converter architecture. The A/D conversion process begins with a delta-sigma modulator that is used to convert the analog input signal into a digital output. This digital output is then converted to an analog output voltage through the built-in DAC circuitry. The on-board EEPROM memory allows the user to program and store certain DAC settings such as the output voltage range, step size, gain, and offset, as well as other parameters. This programmability allows the AD8801AR to be easily used in a wide range of applications and is a key feature of this DAC.The AD8801AR offers excellent linearity and low noise performance.
