ADIsimADC is a Data Acquisition - Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) design tool, enabled to develop and analyze AD9764AR application. AD9764AR is an integrated, high linearity, 8-bit voltage-input DAC, developed by Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI). It was designed with a wide range of input and output voltages, making it suitable for a variety of applications..
The AD9764AR integrates two input-stage buffers and two voltage-output, 8-bit DACs with a reference amplifier for single-supply operation. The two 8-bit DACs are provided in order to support dual-channel, remote applications. The input blocks support both single-ended and differential signals. Combinations of the features found in the AD9764AR makes it suitable for general applications, including power supplies, end-point tests and communications equipment.
The device operates with a supply voltage as low as 3.0 V and needs a controller, such as the controlDAC, to control the functions of the DAC. In order to illustrate the device operation, the following diagram provides the typical power supply architecture used to supply the AD9764AR.
The AD9764AR operates with a wide adaptive input common-mode voltage range, up to 15 V. The reference amplifier comes with an on-chip amplifier whose gain can be programmed as either unity, 0 dB or -6 dB for flexibility. The reference amplifier sources two separate 8-bit DAC outputs and operates with a unity gain reference amplifier. There is also an on-chip output buffer, which can be programmed as either unity or 0 dB gain.
In order to achieve its maximum performance, the device should be supplied with up to 5.5 V, but it can operate with a supply voltage as low as 3.0 V to simplify board design. A number of on-chip functions are shipped with the AD9764AR, such as a low-drift voltage reference, a differential input stage buffer, an integrator/differentiator, an amplifier/attenuator, a level translator, an output buffer and a reference buffer. The reference amplifier and output buffer are user-programmable, providing a great level of flexibility when using the device. The device also contains an internal 16-bit register, which is used to configure its operation.
The AD9764AR is configured by a VIA Laser Control programmable I/O interface. The VIA Laser Control is used to program the device’s inputs, output, and reference voltages. The programmable I/O interface is also used to program external digital to analog converters for a variety of applications. The external converters make it possible to extend the resolution of the AD9764AR and to achieve higher linearity.
The AD199764AR Data Acquisition - Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) was designed with an extensive amount of electrical and mechanical features, making it suitable for a wide array of applications. The device can operate with a wide range of common-mode voltages, providing an adjustable input for a variety of single-ended or differential signals. An on-chip reference amplifier, buffer, level translators, output buffer and 16-bit register provide flexibility when using the device. The integrated VIA Laser Control programmable I/O interface allows the user to configure the device in a variety of configurations, making it suitable for applications with varying resolutions.
