Application Field
The AD9764ARURL digital-to-analog converter (DAC) provides excellent performance for a wide range of applications including digital audio, imaging, and video encoding and processing. The AD9764ARURL also provides precise and low-distortion digital-to-analog conversion. It is widely used in various systems such as portable audio players, video game consoles, video capture cards, video source processors, video output processors, video surveillance systems and MPEG encoders. Working Principle
The AD9764ARURL has a single-channel architecture, with two sub-ADC cores which maintain 8-bit resolution. An external reference voltage is used to define the range of the converter. The device is specified to operate with a 3.3V power supply, and is capable of operating over temperature ranges from –40°C to +85°C. The maximum input voltage range is from 0V to 1.9V.
The DAC’s digital-to-analog conversion is done by a simple process. After digital data is received from a microcontroller, the DAC first adjusts the 0/1 ratio of the input digital data. It then references the values to the internal reference voltage. The precision and low-distortion digital-to-analog conversion is done by the output amplifier in the device which controls the output voltage of the DAC versus the reference voltage. The output voltage is the equivalent of the desired digital data.
In addition to the single-channel architecture, the AD9764ARURL DAC has features such as a power-down mode, and on-chip voltage reference. The device is the most cost-effective single channel DAC available and is capable of providing a high-performance, distortion-free analog signal.
