Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) is a method of radio engineering used to generate precise, stable, precise signals over a wide range of frequencies. Its main applications are in radio communication and radar systems. The AD9838BCPZ-RL is an integrated circuit (IC) designed specifically for use in DDS devices. The frequency registers can be loaded with digital words with a resolution of 24 bits, which allows for 4911 discrete frequencies. The delay register allows the user to control the output frequency in step sizes of 0.001 degrees and enables the generation of smooth transitions between frequencies.The device also features selectable output power levels and a watchdog timer to monitor the integrity of the output signal. The power levels are adjusted using external logic signals.
