The ADM3202ARN-REEL is an universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter interface (UART) with integrated 250 kbps transceivers. It is specifically designed to provide low-power, low-power consumption and low-noise operation for all types of serial communication applications. This UART can be used for RS-232, RS-485, RS-422, and various proprietary protocols. The ADM3202ARN-REEL can be used as a replacement for an analog modem or RTU (remote terminal unit) for short-distance communication applications.The ADM3202ARN-REEL is designed to support 3-wire and 4-wire remote connection. The 3-wire connections are 8-pin, 9-pin and 10-pin. On the other hand, the 4-wire connections are also 8-pin, 9-pin, 10-pin as well as 24-pin. The 8-pin version of the ADM3202ARN-REEL includes the following functions: receive, transmit and RTS/CTS with an integrated 16C450 UART and programmable FIFO buffer sizes.The 16C450 UART of the ADM3202ARN-REEL provides a high-speed data transfer rate of up to 250 kbps, which supports speeds up to 20 MB/s. The RTS/CTS control lines of the ADM3202ARN-REEL can be used as an additional signal of the controller. The 16C450 UART of the ADM3202ARN-REEL is also configured for multi-drop communication systems, as well as for full-duplex transmission and reception.The ADM3202ARN-REEL is a low-power UART, which consumes only 14 mA of power at 9V, and generates very little heat. This makes the ADM3202ARN-REEL ideal for applications where low power consumption is required. The low-noise operation of the ADM3202ARN-REEL also makes it suitable for use in noise sensitive situations.The working principle of the ADM3202ARN-REEL is based on the following components: clock generator, data receiver and transmitter, and control circuits. The clock generator is responsible for generating the baud rate of the data transmission, and also for controlling the reception and transmission of data. The data receiver and transmitter convert digital data into a serial format and vice versa. The control circuits contain the hardware and software components that govern the sending and receiving of data.The working principle of the ADM3202ARN-REEL is based on the fundamentals of UARTs. As mentioned earlier, the ADM3202ARN-REEL is an asynchronous interface, which means that the data is sent and received in an asynchronous form with no guarantee of data accuracy. The asynchronous nature of the serial interface means that the data is sent without any prior synchronization between the transmitting and receiving device, meaning that the receiver may receive data out of order or in some cases, be completely unable to synchronize and interpret the data.The UART of the ADM3202ARN-REEL works by implementing a number of components in order to ensure a reliable data transfer between two devices. Firstly, the Receiver portion of the UART typically contains an input register that allows data to be received from the transmitting device, an interface logic which translates the data into a parallel form and an output register that accepts the received byte of data.
