The ADM3485ARZ also offers an integrated watchdog timer, adjustable slew rate limiting, and robust EMI/EMC filtering for protection against noise interference, so that it can be used in a wide variety of automotive applications.
The ADM3485ARZ\'s working principle is based on the concept of optocouplling, which is the process of isolating two circuits by the use of an optical element. The device includes a transmitter and a receiver, with each circuit induced by an optical link. The optical link utilizes the properties of light to achieve galvanic isolation. The physical processes that occur in optocoupling are the conversion of electrical energy into light and then into electrical energy again. The electrical energy is converted into light by a light-absorbing material (LED) which is connected to the transmitter and then the photons are converted back into electricity by a light-emitting material (phototransistor) which is connected to the receiver. It can be configured as 1- or 2-channel, vertical or horizontal components, and as a 3.3V/5.0V device.
