Working Principle of ADM8693ARU-REEL
The ADM8693ARU-REEL IC is essentially a combination of three independent functions: an under voltage lockout (UVLO), reset output and VBias output. This IC has an adjustable UVLO threshold of 2V to 4.8V, and an adjustable reset threshold of 2.3V to 5.3V. The IC also offers two voltage references, namely, Vref1/2 and Vref2/2, and furnishes +5V power.
The nominal power supply voltage is applied to input pin 1 and the enable signal (EN) is usually left open, or can be connected to ground and provide a logic-low enable signal. The ADCIN is connected to +2.5V and the ADCOFF is connected to ground. The reset signal is generated when the voltage at pin 1 drops below the reset threshold. This signal can be used to alert the system processor and protect system components from power supply failure.
The VIN and VBias outputs can also provide high noise immunity and transient protection depending on the system requirements. The VIN output will deliver the same voltage that is applied to the input pins, and the VBish output will deliver an adjustable voltage output (1.2V to 5.5V) based on the setting of the ADM8693ARU-REEL variable resistor (VR).
As the EN pin is connected to ground or left open, the UVLO and reset functions are disabled and the VBias output is enabled. The power monitor section of the IC will monitor the input voltage and generate reset signal when the voltage is below the preset threshold. As such, the ADM8693ARU-REEL ensures precise power-up and power-down sequencing, protection against temperature variations and autonomous outputs.
