ADP1872-1.0-EVALZ is an evaluation board specially designed for DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS. It is an ideal solution to understand the operation of modern DC/DC power converter in a real time environment. It has a double sided PCB design which is capable of providing two output channels. The output can be simutaneously adjusted with two trim pots. The evaluation board comes with an isolated AC to DC converter. It can generate an output voltage of 12 VDC at up to 150 W. The main switching element of the evaluation board is an ATX450-D2-5N synchronous rectifier and dual N-Channel MOSFET. This is designed for low-level, stepdown operation and is capable of sustaining 100 V DC input and up to 5 A current.

The DC set- Point can be set to any value from 8 to 13 V DC and is adjustable using a potentiometer. The over-voltage protection circuit is also adjustable with a potentiometer. It is capable of sustaining up to 132 V input and will shut off the power if the input voltage exceeds this level.

The evaluation board comes with overload protection, thermal shutdown protection, frequency foldback and line frequency tracking. The thermal shutdown feature provides a warning in case the temperature of the switching regulator exceeds the safe limit. It also comes with additional features such as low-power adaptive synchronization and LED fault indicator.
