The ADP1972-EVALZ, a Linear Technology evaluation board for DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS, is an evaluation and reference board used for the design of power supplies. It offers an all-inclusive board with a set of experimentally-available components and an unrivaled set of interconnections. Intended applications include linear power supplies, DC-DC converters, AC-DC power supplies, power factor correction, and many more.The board has a set of programming switches which allow the user to choose between different SMPS architectures, as well as to customize the transfer function and other parameters such as the operating voltage and current. The board also features programmed output voltages and current limiting circuitry.The ADP1972-EVALZ board is powered with user-selectable input voltages. It supports input voltages from 4.5 V to 30 V and input currents from 15 to 200 A. The board includes DC and AC input ports, enabling measurements of AC input current and voltage. The board also integrates a wide range of protection circuitry, including short-circuit protection, reverse-polarity protection, overvoltage protection (OVP), overcurrent protection (OCP), and more.The output of the board can be programmed using the on-board programming switches. The range of available output voltage is 0 V to 30 V and output current up to 3 A. The board includes an actively-cooled temperature compensated linear voltage regulator with an output voltage stability of 0.01%.The board also includes multiple control loops, voltage and current monitor outputs, and an adjustable soft start circuit.
