ADP3334ACPZ-REEL7 voltage regulator is a low-dropout linear voltage regulator specifically designed for ultra low power systems which require stringent dropout voltage and quiescent current levels. It provides 2.85V to 5.5V output voltage with superior Load and Line regulation, transconductance and output impedance. The device has an internal low-noise linear regulator and an integrated low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulator. It is capable of providing up to 200mV of dropout voltage, which makes it ideal for applications requiring low-voltage operation. The ADP3334ACPZ-REEL7 has a very low quiescent current of 4 to 6µA, making it suitable for ultra-low-power applications. In addition, it has an adjustable output voltage range and adjustable output voltage slew rate which makes it ideal for multiple power-savings scenarios. It also has an adjustable start-up sequence which allows it to scale up the voltage linearly from the start-up point when the load is increased.
The ADP3334ACPZ-REEL7 is also capable of operating at very low input voltages, as low as 1.9V. Its load regulation is less than 10 mV and the line regulation is better than 30 mV. The quiescent current is adjustable from 4 to 14µA. The ADP3334ACPZ-REEL7 also features an active current limit to protect against inrush currents and short circuits. Its maximum output current is up to 150 mA. The device also includes soft start capability, thermal shutdown protection and overvoltage protection.
The ADP3334ACPZ-REEL7 works by using two series of precision operational amplifiers and two sets of MOSFETs. The Zener diode and transimpedance amplifier together form the voltage reference circuit which sets the output voltage. The output transistor controls the current delivered to the load. The error amplifier generates an error signal which is fed to the gate of the output transistor. As the load current increases, the gates of the output MOSFETs are driven up and the output voltage is maintained at the preset value. The PWM controller and error amplifier also control the start-up sequence or load transient response of the regulator.
The ADP3334ACPZ-REEL7 is designed for a wide range of applications including DC motor and battery-powered system, medical and instrumentation equipment, portable communications and consumer-type electronics and multi-voltage switching power supplies.
