ADP7105ARDZ, a low-dropout voltage regulator integrated circuit (LDO IC) from Analog Devices, is designed for application related portable electronic devices.

The ADP7105IRDZ LDO IC features stable output voltage with very low dropout voltage and low quiescent current. It has a maximum line-regulation of ± 0.5% and a maximum load-regulation of 0.05%. The device has a maximum output current of up to 650 mA.

ADP7105ARDZ provides reverse battery protection, reverse current protection and under-voltage protection. It operates at a wide temperature range of -40°C to +125°C and is available in 8–pin packages such as LLP-8 and SOIC-N-8. This device is also available in 2A, 3A and high current versions.

Working Principle

The ADP7105ARDZ device operates by converting an input voltage (VIN) to an accurately regulated output voltage (VOUT). The supply voltage (VIN) is regulated by the series pass element, which is a P-channel depletion-mode MOSFET, operated in a current source configuration. This MOSFET is controlled by an internal control amplifier, which samples the output voltage at the VFB pin. The control amplifier also providing OCP current limit protection and thermal limit protection.

The ADP7105ARDZ device also draw low quiescent current (less than 8mA) since the output current only flows through the P-channel MOSFET during the output voltage achieve at a steady state.
