ADPD106BCBZR7 application field and working principleData Acquisition – Analog Front End (AFE) refers to a sub-system of hardware and software components found in many data capture and data conversion systems. The purpose of an AFE is to capture and convert analog signals (or more generally, analog information) and transfer it to digital form. ADPD106BCBZR7 is an integrated AFE that has been developed to provide high analog input bandwidth and digital output bandwidth for ultra-low power consumption. It is the ideal solution for optical signals sensing applications that require low-power operation and wide dynamic range.
ADPD106BCBZR7 supports digital output of 16-bit resolution with a range of up to 8 bits for bipolar signals and 8 bits for unipolar signals. The AFE integrates an analog front end with an on-chip voltage reference and an internal temperature sensor. The integrated on-chip current reference allows the AFE to detect and report errors to the user. The device also features a power management system, allowing the AFE to automatically switch between states to reduce current consumption. A wide range of output data types are supported, including XYZ, XYZW and XYZRGB.
The integrated voltage and temperature references provide temperature control of the analog input signals and allow the design of more accurate and low-power systems. In addition, the device features an automatic gain control (AGC) circuit with a range of 6-bit to 16-bit. This function provides a wide dynamic range with automatic gain control for optimized performance. Furthermore, the integrated Phase and Frequency Measurement (PFM) mode allows for accurate frequency analysis of the incoming signal.
ADPD106BCBZR7 is ideal for applications in ultra-small form factors such as smartphones, wearables and tablets. It is capable of operation up to 20MHz and offers a very low power consumption of only 2µA, reducing total system power consumption. The device includes integrated hardware-based safety features including programmable power-on delay and under- and over-voltage lockout (UVLO) to protect against overload. The integrated AFE also features a programmable gain stage, as well as a programmable low-pass filter which can be used to reduce noise and enhance signal integrity.
