The ADS1110EVM is an evaluation board featuring Analog to Digital Converters (ADCs). The ADS1110 is a Low-Power, BiCMOS, 16-Bit, Serial Input, Sampling A/D Converter. This evaluation board provides an easy-to-use environment for evaluating the performance of the ADS1110 in a variety of applications requiring sampling and conversion of analoginput signals to digital codes.
The ADS1110EVM can be used in any industrial, automotive, or standaloneconsumer applications requiring accurate, low-power signal sampling and digital coding. The wide supply range of the ADS1110 makes it well-suited for low-voltage applications. Its high speed and wideinput range make it suitable for a variety of matching and higher-level applications. The board also allows user to choose amongst three different parallel interface configurations (8 bit, 16 bit,32 bit).
The working principle of this ADC is based on the SuccessiveApproximation Register (SAR) architecture. This architecture is based on theprogressive search of the digital code that corresponds to the input analogsignal. The ADC continuously converts analog signals into 16-bit binary codes,starting with the most significant bit and sequentially progressing to the leastsignificant bit.
The ADS1110EVM is provided in a standard 14-pin DIP package and is fullycharacterized and tested. It is also fully compatible with a wide variety ofmicrocontrollers and other digital logic architectures. This evaluation board canbe used for a wide range of applications, ranging fromdata acquisition to signal processing.
