The ADS1258IRTCR is an Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) that is used to convert an analog signal into a digital form for further processing or control. It is designed to provide high performance in a wide range of applications, such as medical, automotive and industrial applications. The ADS1258IRTCR is a low-cost, high-speed, high-accuracy, low-power, 24-bit ADC.The ADS1258IRTCR is well suited for applications that require a reliable and precise measurement. It features a programmable gain amplifier and a 16-bit, asynchronous parallel port interface for easy integration with a variety of processors and controllers. The ADC is also available in a variety of packages, including a “TCR” package that offers superior RFI/EMI protection.The device’s input range is from 0 to +5 VDC and it supports a resolution of up to 24 bits. The input circuitry features a 9th-order sigma-delta modulator, which is responsible for noise shaping and eliminating harmonic distortion. Also, the comparator voltage reference has selectable gain and offset settings, allowing the user to easily adjust the exact level of conversion accuracy.The ADS1258IRTCR has two modes of operation; continuous and single-shot. In continuous mode, the device continuously captures data from the analog input, converting it to digital values and providing the converted digital values to the output port pin. In single-shot mode, the device captures a single sample of data from the analog input before providing the converted digital values to the output port pin.The output data is aligned in Word or Byte formats for easy manipulation of data. Furthermore, this ADC has an integrated oscillator and temperature-compensated reference (TCR) which allows it to perform conversion at only 10 nanoseconds, while still maintaining its precision.In terms of power, the ADC itself consumes very little, with a typical IC power of 4.0mA, allowing it to be suitable for battery-powered applications. Its low power consumption makes it an ideal choice for designs where efficiency is key.Overall, the ADS1258IRTCR is an excellent choice for applications where accuracy and reliability are necessary, such as medical and automotive applications. Its low power consumption, fast conversion time and high resolution make it a great all-around solution for these types of applications.
