ADS1281EVM is an evaluation module (EVM) designed by Texas Instruments to demonstrate the features and performance of the ADS1281, a precision 4-channel Delta-Sigma analog-to-digital converter (ADC). It includes the ADS1281 to convert the analog input signals into 20-bit digital output words and also includes features such as variable input voltage range, multiple system interface options, and multiple test and configuration modes.The ADS1281EVM is suitable for a wide variety of applications, such as industrial control systems, automotive electronics, healthcare, and consumer electronics. The ADS1281 is capable of converting 4 differential or 8 single-ended analog inputs to 20-bit digital output. It incorporates an on-chip oscillator, programmable output data rate, programmable input voltage range, and extensive digital filtering to ensure low noise operation.The ADS1281EVM features the latest in Analog-to-Digital technology and is an effective way to evaluate the performance of the ADS1281 in a variety of low-speed signal conditioning and data conversion applications. This EVM provides the user with convenient access to important performance parameters, such as noise, linearity, and dynamic range, making it an excellent solution for testing the performance of the ADS1281.The working principle of the ADS1281EVM is based on the differential integrating technique. The converter uses four input Delta-Sigma modulators which integrate the input signals, and a digital signal processor (DSP) that subtracts the integrated signals and then calculates the resultant output code. The DSP also includes on-chip digital filters to reduce the signal-to-noise ratio and improve the linearity of the system.The ADS1281EVM is designed with an onboard voltage reference and on-board RTD and thermocouple signal conditioning, as well as programmable input configurations allowing users to configure the board for thermocouple, linear, current loop, and RTD measurements. This evaluation board also includes configurable analog and digital pins, and an ARM Cortex-M4 based embedded digital controller with control/reading/host interface.The user interface is a color touchscreen LCD which allows the user to select the setup parameters, with a USB interface for PC-to-board connections. The ADS1281EVM is built on a small-footprint, low-power 16-bit MCU and is software-programmable, allowing for easy customization and testing of the converter performance in various applications.The ADS1281EVM is a robust evaluation tool that provides a wide range of analog-to-digital conversion with precision accuracy.
