1. Describe

The ADS1291IPBS, ADS1292, and ADS1292R are multichannel, simultaneous sampling, 24-bit, deltasigma (ΔΣ) analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) with built-in programmable gain amplifiers (PGAs), internal reference, and onboard oscillators. The ADS1291IPBS, ADS1292, and ADS1292R contain all the functions typically required in portable, low-power medical electrocardiography (ECG), sports, and fitness applications. The ADS1291IPS, ADS1292, and ADS1292R feature high levels of integration and superior performance to create scalable medical instrumentation systems with significantly reduced size, power consumption, and overall cost. Each channel of the ADS1291IPBS, ADS1292, and ADS1292R has a flexible input multiplexer that can be independently connected to internally generated signals for test, temperature, and lead-off detection. Additionally, any input channel configuration can be selected to derive the right leg drive (RLD) output signal. The ADS1291IPBS, ADS1292, and ADS1292R operate at data rates up to 8 kSPS. On/off detection can be implemented inside the device using an excitation current sink or source inside the device. The ADS1292R version includes fully integrated respiration impedance measurement. The devices are available in 5mm × 5mm, 32-lead Thin Quad Flatpack (TQFP) and 4mm × 4mm, 32-lead leadless Quad Flatpack (VQFN) packages. Operating temperature is specified from –40°C to +85°C.
