Analog to digital converters (ADCs) are an essential tool for capturing, measuring and monitoring analog signals. The ADS4226EVM application field and working principle are particularly suited for multi-functional data acquisition and control applications. An evaluation board, it uses a highly integrated ADC featuring variable gain, low noise, excellent dynamic range, and wide temperature range operation while offering flexibility in the aggregation of data channels to any converters from dual to eight channels. The ADS4226EVM incorporates Texas Instruments\' TLE41412-Q1 4-channel A/D converter, providing a low power, high performance A/D front end for data acquisition systems. It offers very low noise and distortion, excellent dynamic range, and wide temperature range operation. Each of the four analog channels is individually configurable for normal or differential input mode with programmable input range from 1.14 to 3.14V. Each of the four analog-to-digital channels also includes its own hardware-configurable digital offset adjust function that allows a manual gain adjustment of 100 mV steps up to a total range of 0 to 3.0V.
The evaluation board also provides the capability of aggregating multiple ADC channels to a single device. This feature enables maximum channel density for multiple-channel data acquisition applications by linearizing the signal path of a single channel, thereby enabling improved device performance characteristics. Additionally, the application field and working principle of ADS4226EVM include the ability to optimally match the data resolution to the application\'s requirements, thus reducing cost while maintaining performance. This feature is also useful in environments that require a wide variety of ADC resolutions such as low frequency measurements.
The ADS4226EVM evaluation board includes both digital and analog circuitry. The digital components include a microcontroller unit (MCU), which manages the digital interface, data acquisition, signal conditioning, and power management. The analog components are used for providing buffering, level shifting, split rail and multiplexing functions.
