The SAR is then modified, either higher or lower, depending on whether the output voltage is higher or lower than the input voltage. The process is repeated until the difference between the input and output voltage is less than a set threshold, at which point the guess is ‘true’ and the digital output is formed.

The ADS7828EB/2K5 has a differential input and a 2.5V reference voltage. The unit can also accommodate a ±5V input range and comes with a range of features including an internal 100KHz oscillator, two external clock select pins for two external clock frequencies, an input voltage selection pin and digital filters. The unit also has an improved offset/gain error due to digital correction; as well as a low current consumption, programmable gain and a low supply voltage.
