The ADS7891EVM is an evaluation board designed to validate the performance of the ADS7891 analog-to-digital converter (ADC) from Texas Instruments (TI). It is used to convert analog signals to their digital equivalents for proper processing and storing. The board contains an ADS7891 ADC and a variety of necessary components for testing the device and to be used as a reference design for real-world applications. The device is capable of up to 1.5MHz throughput, drawing a total of only 4mA power at 3.3V for maximum efficiency. The ADS7891EVM evaluation board also includes gain and offset amplifiers, allowing users to use the device in a wide range of input voltage variants as well as for DC, AC, and complex signal measurements. The board also allows the user to measure steeper slopes with lower noise, thanks to its low-noise output buffer. In addition, the board also features eight programmable input ranges (0 to 2V, 0 to 2.5V, 0 to 4V, 0 to 5V, 0 to 10V, 0 to 20V, 0 to 32V, and -2V to +2V).
The ADS7891EVM evaluation board is capable of capturing two independent channels simultaneously. The on-board data acquisition input gain stages and signal multiplexers are designed for simultaneous and dual-channel measurements. The board includes one 16-bit output from the device, with a range of 0 to 65,535. Additionally, the evaluation board also contains a 10MHz on-chip clock with a programmable frequency range of 1kHz to 1MHz.
The ADS7891EVM evaluation board can be used in a variety of applications, including medical instruments, digital oscilloscopes, industrial control systems, scientific instruments, and energy monitoring systems.
