The ADS8320SKGD2 offers excellent performance and is designed for low-to-mid-bandwidth data acquisition systems. The ADS8320SKGD2 operates from a single power supply, with a wide input voltage range of 1.8 V to 3.6 V.Application Field
The ADS8320SKGD2 is well-suited for applications such as medical, process control, and monitoring, data acquisition, and instrumentation, automated test equipment (ATE), smart sensors and wearables. The ADS8320SKGD2 is a pipelined successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The ADC uses sample and hold (S/H) circuit and successive approximation technique to achieve fast, low power and high linearity. The ADC consists of a switch matrix, a sample/hold circuit, an analog circuit, a comparator, a digital DAC, a digital control logic, a digital output and control pins (including chip select (CS), serial clock (CLK), data out (DOUT), power down (PD) and reset (RST) pins).The switch matrix consists of switches (MOSFETs) that control the routing of the desired analog input signal and eliminate the need for external switches. The sample/hold circuit holds the input voltage level constant, providing the stability necessary for accurate and reliable conversions. The analog circuit includes a multi-stage, Σ∆based, bootstrapped operational amplifier for low power and linearity optimization. The comparator distinguishes between the output of the analog circuit and the value stored in the digital-to-analog converter (DAC).The digital-to-analog converter (DAC) is a parallel resistor-capacitor (R-C) network using a R-2R (R2R) structure, which produces a series of digital output values representing the digital approximation of the input voltage. The digital output voltage is compared to the analog voltage and the resulting difference is used to adjust the digital output voltage values until the analog voltage is closely approximated.The digital control logic generates and sequences the clock and control signals, while the digital output allows the digital values of the conversion results to be read out to the user. The chip select and reset pins provide control of the ADC power, reset assertions and deselect the device. The ADS8320SKGD2 offers excellent features such as low power dissipation, wide dynamic range, and improved undershoot/overshoot performance.Conclusion
