Data acquisition, a field related to engineering, deals with the sampling of signals or physical parameters and then the digital processing (transformation) of those signals. Data acquisition, also known as DAQ or digital signal acquisition (DSA), is the measuring of physical parameters by converting them into a digital form. ADS8671IPW, an 8-bit successive approximation register (SAR) ADC, is suited for a wide range of applications such as industrial process control, consumer applications and automotive systems. It has a wide operating voltage range from 3V to 5.5V and also supports a wide input voltage of 1.7V to VCC. A variety of power down modes is supported with an I/O voltage of 1.8V.
The ADS8671IPW has low power consumption and only requires 200µA of supply current. It has a maximum data rate of 8ksps, giving it the ability to handle high speed, low noise signals accurately. Additionally, the ADS8671IPW is capable of running off a small single-cell lithium ion battery.
