ADS8689IPW Application Field and Working Principle

Data Acquisition - Analog to Digital Converters (ADC), also known as digital-to-analog converters, are integrated circuits that allow analog signals to be converted into digital signals and vice versa. The ADS8689IPW is a 16-bit, off-line analog-to-digital (A/D) converter that guarantees a 1MHz maximum conversion rate and low-noise performance for high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).The ADS8689IPW is a 16-bit A/D Converter with a host of features designed to meet signal acquisition requirements across a wide range of applications such as medical, industrial control and data acquisition, automotive, and consumer electronics equipment. For operation of this particular ADC, a single positive or negative reference voltage must be supplied, as well as two separate voltage clocks of the same frequency.This ADC comprises twoparts, the analog circuitry and the digital circuitry. In the analog circuitry portion, the input signal to be converted is first amplified and the amplified signal is then compared with a predetermined reference voltage. Next, The output of the comparator is sent to a digital logic circuit which performs a digital to analog conversion and records the data in a digital format.The digital circuitry is responsible for processing the digital data obtained from the analog circuitry portion of the ADC. It takes the digital output of the analog circuitry and processes it to produce the final output in a digital format. This digital output can then be used as the output data of the ADC.The ADS8689IPW is capable of achieving high accuracy, high resolution and fast conversion rate, making it suitable for a variety of applications.
