The ADUM3220WARZ is a general purpose Gate Driver Isolator from Analog Devices. It enables easy interface between high-side and low-side digital control logic when driving high-side MOSFETs, IGBTs, or bipolar transistors. The device consists of a single isolated channel, featuring a fast turn-on, turn-off time of femtoseconds (10^-15 s), helping to achieve improved efficiency in motor control and other isolated gate drive applications. The purpose of this device is to provide an isolated control system that will enable the system voltage to stay within limits without any risk of malfunctioning. It also provides circuit protection from unexpected voltage transients. This helps protect the system from longitudinal current surge due to unequal switch turn-on and turn-off times, which can overstress the switch and decrease system performance. The ADUM3220WARZ includes two drivers, an inverting and a non-inverting, both of which are capable of being switched simultaneously. When the non-inverting driver is activated, it switches the high-side MOSFET or bipolar transistor gates to high and the low-side to low. The inverting driver takes the opposite action, so when it is activated the high-side is switched to low and the low-side to high. When both drivers are active, a simultaneous high- and low-side switch is possible. The ADUM3220WARZ is capable of operating over a voltage range of 4.5V to 13V, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. It has an adjustable dead time, so that the turn-on and turn-off times of the switch can be customized according to the needs of the application. Integrated EMI, over voltage, and over temperature protection help ensure safe, reliable operation.
