The AG003-01E from Azoteq (Pty) Ltd is an evaluation board designed to show the capabilities of the IQS620A Hall Effect Sensor, a low-power 3D magnetic navigation device and specific characteristics of the IQS620A, like power requirements and output accuracy. This evaluation board can be used to measure Hall Effect and Morse code signals by providing a convenient environment for signaling over long distances with rotary encoders. The AG003-01E can also be used with the IQS620A to measure magnetic fields in the vicinity of an electronic device for a range of applications such as position sensing, navigation and motion detection.

The AG003-01E evaluation board includes an embedded microcontroller, the PIC18F44K40, and several auxiliary components such as resistors and capacitors. It also includes a DC power input jack, an RJ45 port, a GPIO port and an I²C port which helps connect the IQS620A to the evaluation board. The GPIO port provides outputs that can be connected to external circuits or devices to control or read the output of the Hall Effect sensor.

The AG003-01E evaluation board operates by utilizing an on-board voltage supply and producing a narrow Hall Effect pulse by a Hall Effect transducer. This Hall Effect pulse is then passed through a programmable amplifier and is converted into a digital signal by an ADC before being sent to the PIC18F44K40 for analysis. The PIC18F44K40 is then able to compare this digital signal to a predetermined pulse value and act on it accordingly. The board is also capable of counting the pulses and can be used to generate the pulses from the encoders for other applications, like joystick and motion control.

The AG003-01E evaluation board is a powerful development environment for users and designers to evaluate and test the performance of the IQS620A Hall Effect Sensor. With its range of features and connections, users are able to use the evaluation board to quickly evaluate the sensor’s performance in a variety of applications such as position sensing, navigation and motion detection. This evaluation board offers a convenient environment for long-distance signaling with rotary encoders and can be used to count the Hall Effect pulses and send Morse code signals.
