PTC Resettable Fuses are fuses that use a PTC (positive temperature coefficient) device in combination with a temperature sensitive heat element. These fuses are designed to protect circuits from damage due to overcurrent or short circuit. The PTC resistor inside the fuse will increase its overall resistance as the current increases, eventually causing the temperature sensitive element to open the circuit. Once the overcurrent or short circuit is removed, the fuse will reset itself and the circuit can be re-established.The AHR1000 is a high reliability resettable fuse designed for use in automotive applications. It is designed with a low self-inductance current sense and a zero voltage dropoff during normal operation. The fuse is also designed to be reverse biased-proof to protect against high range over currents.The AHR1000 also has an adjustable current control range of 10mA to 30A. The heater element is designed to reset at a rate of 90mA/sec, which guarantees a fast reset on the fuse.The AHR1000 is available in three different packages.
