AM26C32QDG4 Interface - Drivers, Receivers, Transceivers

The AM26C32QDG4 is an array of quad differential line drivers and receivers, specifically designed to interface data transmission lines to digital systems in a variety of computer and communication systems. Using push-pull outputs, the devices provide a nine-bit plus ground line interface for applications such as point-to-point, multi-drop and bus-oriented systems. The devices also include source-terminated terminations, which provide a common-mode termination facility to reduce reflections and ringing on the bus.

AM26C32QDG4 Working Principle

The AM26C32QDG4 devices feature four differential line drivers, each driver consisting of a pair of inverting and non-inverting inputs, a common-mode output, a positive supply pin (VCC1) and a negative supply pin (VCC2). The four differential line receivers consist of three inputs (DAQ, DBQ, and DCQ) and a common-mode input (VCC3). When the devices are used together as a differential line driver and receiver pair, they are referred to as a transceiver. The differential line driver operates on single-ended logic levels, and produces differential output that is nine bits wide, including ground. The differential line receiver operates on differential logic levels, and produces single-ended logic levels. The transceiver mode is provided for applications that require both differential and single-ended operations.The devices feature power down capability, both in the driver and receiver sections. The device is designed to be driven from a ±3.3V supply, however the driver output can be referenced to VCC1 and VCC2 pins up to ±10V.The devices feature integral pull-up and pull-down resistors that provide a common-mode termination when the device is in the disabled state. The integrated pull-up and pull-down resistors are activated by a logic control pin,TE, that is connected to the input of the line driver. When TE is LOW, the pull-up/pull-down resistor is activated.The devices feature an enable/disable control (EN) pin. This pin allows the user to enable or disable the drivers and receivers. The enable/disable control pin operates independently from the pull-up/pull-down resistors.The devices also feature an output driver capability that can be used to extend the transmission range of the line driver or to support a high current load. When the driver is enabled and the output driver control pin (OD) is set to HIGH, the output driver will drive the differential output to its maximum value, resulting in a higher current output than is available when the driver is enabled and the output driver is set to LOW.The devices are also able to support low power applications with the low power mode (LPM). This will reduce the current consumption of the device by more than 50%.In addition, the devices feature an over-voltage protection feature. This feature will protect the device from applications with higher voltages than the device is rated to operate at.
