Motors/Drivers/Controllers are important types of power management integrated circuits (PMICs), featuring multi-channel outputs capable of driving a wide range of devices, including actuators, relays and motors. As a type of PMIC, the AM4406FMTR-G1 works in four different modes, such as forward/reverse control, stepper motor control, desk motor control, and overlap PWM control. This device is specifically designed for driving of 12/24V brush DC motors, 12/24V linear actuators, gates, etc. It also supports over-current and over-voltage protection to protect motors from damage.

The working principle of AM4406FMTR-G1 is based on its four working modes, which rely on two signals for power management. The first signal is the power enable signal, which controls the motor power supply voltage (V motor_power) through a logic level. The Stepper Motor Control Mode works by constantly changing the power supply voltage according to the control signal. The voltage variation is responsible for adjust the rotation speed and direction of the motor. The Direction Change Detection Mode is conducive for detecting the speed and direction of the motor and to drive the motor accordingly. Here, a Hall signal is applied to the input signal to detect the direction of rotation.

The Overlap PWM Control Mode is used to directly control the power supply voltage to the motor based on the pulse width modulation. This mode is suitable for positioning and controlling purposes, as well as for the speed regulation. In addition to these working modes, the device also supports external brake control and an FWD/CS signal limit, making it suitable for many different applications.
