The features of AP2501SN-7 include high forward current capacity, low quiescent current, POR protection, thermal warning, under-voltage lockout, over-current protection and fault protection. It has a wide operating temperature range of −40 to +85°C, low power consumption and high accuracy of ±1% at 25°C.

The working principle of the AP2501SN-7 is based on the principle of power-line communication. Its main components are a P-channel MOSFET, a voltage regulator and a current sensing circuit. The P-channel MOSFET is used to convert the high DC input voltage into a low DC output voltage, while the voltage regulator is used to regulate the output voltage by setting the gate voltage of the P-channel MOSFET. The current sensing circuit monitors the current drawn by the load and adjusts the gate voltage of the P-channel MOSFET, thus maintaining a constant output voltage.
