DC to DC and AC to DC (Off-Line) SMPS or Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) are used to convert electrical energy from a DC or AC source to a DC or AC load. The AP3301EV1 is a DC to DC SMPS controller IC specifically designed for use in point of load (POL) applications. Its main features include a wide input voltage range from 4.5 V to 48 V, high power efficiency of up to 90%, adjustable switching frequency from 200 kHz to 500 kHz, and Active Dead-Time Control (ADTC).

The AP3301EV1 is designed to control both single-ended and double-ended buck or boost SMPS configurations. Additionally, it has several fault conditions which cause the SMPS output to be shut down, such as Over-Current Protection, Over-Voltage Protection, Over-Temperature Protection, and Under-Voltage Protection.
