The ARD7224H is an RF switch designed by Anadigics. It is a SP2T (Letter B) package, covering the L, S, C, X bands and having 3 VCEX and 2 VCCX control. This switch uses very low insertion loss and high isolation to provide an ideal choice for portable and mobile applications.

Application Field

ARD7224H is used in various portable, mobile receiver and transmitter applications, including cellular/UMTS/CDMA/AMPS, WLAN, GPS, Bluetooth, Zigbee and other wireless transceiver applications.

It is typically used in receive signal chains, transmit signal chains, power amplifiers, antenna sharing, transmit/receive switching, duplexers, multiplexers and other wireless device application.

Working Principle

The ARD7224H switch employs a patented MEMS process, which provides solutions with a low insertion loss, high isolation and linear control voltage. It is an SP2T (Letter B) package that has 3 VCEX and 2 VCCX control.

The VCCX and VCEX control makes use of the negative coefficient of capacitance, so that the VCCX decreases with increasing input voltage, and the VCEX increases with the increasing input voltage. This allows for a smooth control of the switching voltage between 0.5 and 3 VDC by controlling the current applied across the MEMS capacitors.

The switch works by changing the impedance of the MEMS design on each side of the switch. The switch’s design makes it possible to synchronize the switching control voltage between different control pins, allowing 3 VCEX control of each of the ports by changing the voltage applied across each MEMS capacitor.

The ARD7224H also offers a wide operating temperature range, from -40°C to +85°C, making it suitable for a wide range of portable and mobile applications.
