ARMADILLO-43T Application Field and Working Principle

Display modules are extensively used, be it in industrial, medical or general purpose applications. While displaying information to machine- and human-readable systems, display modules are required to be of various sizes, shapes or designs and employ intricate technologies to create a user-friendly display interface. The ARMADILLO-43T is one such display module belonging to the LCD, OLED, and graphic family.

The ARMADILLO-43T is a 4.3” diagonal TFT capacitive touch LCD module with a resolution of 480*272 and an aspect ratio of 16:9. The module is designed to display information in a graphical user interface (GUI). The slim design with a thickness as low as 5mm and a wide viewing angle of 178° makes it suitable for design-oriented applications. The ARMADILLO-43T is provided with an integrated controller and a single 8-bit microprocessor MCU interface. It also has a built-in full color palette and a variety of RGB selector inputs.

The ARMADILLO-43T has a variety of touch sensors available including resistive, capacitive and projected capacitive. The module has several touch options including single-and two touch, as well as a range of gesture control support options. Its high-brightness luminance is also an attractive feature with luminance as high as 300 cd/m2. The module is powered by a 3.3V supply and its operating temperature range is from -20°C to 65°C. Besides, it is compliant to the European Low Voltage Directive, EN 60950.

In terms of working principle the ARMADILLO-43T is quite straightforward. It essentially comprises of a TFT LCD panel with a capacitive touch sensor array, an integrated controller that controls the operation of the panel, and a microprocessor interface connected to the TFT panel, enabling it to receive the signals generated by the controller. The panel sends signals to the controller, which in turn controls the LCD panel and sends commands based on the signals received by the controller. The microprocessor then takes these commands, processes them and sends them to the LCD array.

The ARMADILLO-43T is mainly employed in medical electronic equipment and dashboards as well as in gaming consoles, industrial/automotive controllers, and retail/POS applications. The module uses advanced technologies such as touch and gesture control for user convenience and tolerance levels. As a result, the ARMADILLO-43T is perfect for touch-enabled claims in a wide variety of industrial, medical, and consumer applications.
