Position Sensors – Angle, Linear Position Measuring

The AS5601-ASOM is a digital absolute angle measurement system, which is optimized for use in motion control applications. This system is used for measuring the absolute angle of a rotating shaft, and outputting this angle in a digital form. It works in a range of -90° to 0° and 0° to +90° with a resolution of 0.088° and accuracy of 0.18°. The application field for this sensor system includes, but is not limited to, automotive electronics, security electronics, industrial automation, and aerospace applications.

The AS5601-ASOM incorporates a magnetic rotary position sensor, an analog-to-digital converter, and a signal conditioning processor into one package. The magnetic rotary position sensor utilizes the Hall Effect, which means that it outputs an electrical signal proportional to the angular displacement of a permanent magnet in its vicinity. This way, the system is able to measure both the position and rate of change of a rotary shaft, as well as the direction of rotation - all with very high accuracy.

The magnetic rotary position sensor is designed to measure both absolute and relative position, and it can be operated from a wide range of supply voltages (5.9-10V DC). It is also designed to operate in harsh conditions, such as extreme temperature fluctuations, high humidity, or electromagnetic interference. The analog-to-digital converter converts the angular position signal from the magnetic rotary position sensor to a digital output signal.
